Sunit Ruparelia, Pharmacist

District 4

The ethos that has imbued the Community and Pharmacy Support Group (CAPS) is "United We Stand, Together We Thrive", in the continued advocacy for Pharmacists.

My experience with CAPS will help me with regulatory advocacy to shape pharmacy regulations and policies. Regulations should be fair and transparent, supporting the viability of community pharmacies while ensuring patient safety and quality of care.

I will champion community engagement initiatives to highlight our profession, dispel ticket-clipper misconceptions, and rebuild social capital.

I acknowledge healthcare disparities in country towns and advocate for patient-centred pharmacy policies prioritising patient access to medications and services.

I believe in building coalitions with other healthcare stakeholders to amplify our advocacy efforts. We can leverage this to ensure patient interests are always the priority and that we are involved in that care.

We need ongoing grassroots mobilisation due to various essential reasons.

I will fight for pharmacist ownership rules that safeguard the highest standards of patient care and professional integrity.

I support advocacy efforts to barriers that limit pharmacists' ability to use their skills and expertise to their full potential.

Together, we can innovate, motivate and, most importantly, activate.

It’s Time for Change!

  • Penrith Community Pharmacy Owner with over 20 years experience in the Community Pharmacy Industry

  • Key organiser of CAPS

  • Senior bipartisan political relationships

  • Supporter of professional services development & implementation

Other healthcare professionals do not dictate how Pharmacists can work to full scope.

Never can we say “We can’t do that” because we will irritate “this group” or “that group”!

A vote for Sunit is a vote for:

  • Restoring the NSW Pharmacy Guild branch to national leadership.

  • Proper remuneration for ODT.

  • Subsidised Influenza vaccinations.

  • Scope extension not to be “tokenistic” and not a “piecemeal” basis.

  • Full scope of practice to be rolled out ASAP. Prescribing “trials” and “pilots” to be the thing of the past!

  • OCP policy to be updated and unrestricted to allow equitable access across all states to all OCP for all ages.

  • Continued defence of S3 category and removal of down scheduling of S2 medications.

  • Mandatory SafeScript usage for prescribers in the state of NSW.

  • Proper remuneration for the dispensary that ensures viability after 60DD full introduction.
